Posted on 06/26/2024

The City of Warrenton encourages you to celebrate safely this Independence Day. If you choose to use fireworks within the city limits, please do so safely and legally.

City of Warrenton Fireworks Laws

Per Section 210.710, fireworks are permitted to be used in city limits on:

  • July 1 and 2 from Noon - 11 pm
  • July 3 and 4 from Noon - Midnight

  • July 5 from Noon - 11 pm

Fireworks must be legal and purchased from a licensed firework stand or store.

Fireworks Safety

Fireworks cause thousands of injuries each year, and the only safe way to view fireworks, is to attend a professional show. If you do decide to discharge fireworks, please do so safely with the following safety tips in mind:

  • Never re-light a "dud" firework
  • Soak used fireworks and sparklers in water and make sure the bucket of water is  handy. Sparklers account for a quarter of all firework injury-related trips to emergency rooms. Sparklers burn at 1,200 degrees and can cause third degree burns in a fraction of a second.
  • Keep matches, lighters, and fireworks away from children
  • Always have a sober adult present
  • Don't forget your pets and keep them indoors. Have them microchipped and/or make sure they have identifying tags.
  • Do not throw fireworks or hold them in your hand
  • Light one firework at a time and move away quickly. Remain a safe distance away.
  • Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
  • Fireworks cause almost 19,000 injuries each year. Young people between the ages of 5 - 19 have a disproportionate number of injuries based on the population. Fireworks should only be used with proper adult supervision.

  • Keep a garden hose or fire extinguisher nearby in case of problems.

  • Do NOT aim bottle rockets, roman candles, and other fireworks which leave the ground, toward people, buildings or vehicles.

  • Report any fires in buildings, vehicles, or greenspaces by calling 911 immediately!

Reporting Illegal Use

For non-emergency firework concerns, such as usage during off dates and times, please call Warrenton Dispatch at (636) 456-7088. Only call 911 when there is an immediate threat to life or property.
