GROUNDS & MAINTENANCE
TOGETHER WE CAN enhance the quality of life for the residents of Warrenton by providing recreational parks and facilities, opportunities for recreational growth, including programs and leisure activities for the citizens in a clean and safe environment.
The Grounds and Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining both the interior and exterior of all City owned or maintained properties. These 35 areas include 116 acres of parks, 35 acres of cemetery, I-70 entrance and exit ramps, 7 lift stations, 5 wells, and all City buildings. Their functions include landscaping, mowing, and trimming, emptying trash receptacles, and maintenance of the city banners. In addition to maintenance functions, Grounds and Maintenance also completes remodeling and new construction projects annually. They are instrumental in assisting other departments for special events setups, as well as installing and removing the Christmas decorations.
The Grounds and Maintenance Department is responsible for the City of Warrenton’s Tree-Membrance Program. The Tree-Membrance Program offers participants a unique way to honor someone by donating a tree to a city park. The Grounds and Maintenance Department will plant your chosen tree in your selected park. A tree tab will be attached, listing the name of the donor(s) and the name of the honored person. Program Participants receive a commemorative certificate. Trees can grow for several hundred years, making them an enduring, living memorial for a loved one or a wonderful way to honor someone.
